llinois Rules of the Road is as accurate as possible at the time of publication. The booklet contains information you must know to pass the written test on traffic laws and signs in order to obtain basic driving privileges. It includes information on obtaining a driver’s license, driver’s license laws, traffic safety issues and general information regarding Illinois traffic laws and ordinances.
It takes time and practice to learn how to be a good driver. This Parent-Teen Driving Guide is a tool to help parents observe and instruct their teen drivers during the instruction permit phase of licensing.
Since implementation of the new GDL provisions in 2008, teen driving deaths in the state are down by nearly 51 percent. As a result, Illinois’ GDL Program has been lauded by traffic safety organizations across the country and remains a national model for teen driver safety.
This tool allows students (commercial schools driver education or high school driver education) to check their eligibility to apply for a driver's license, having completed a requisite driver education course.
